Title -- 3922 REGION: Cullen reveals White's vindictive campaign details Date -- 30 January 2003 Byline -- None Origin -- Pacific Media Watch Source -- Open letter to PMW, 30/1/3 Copyright -- TC/PMW Status -- Unabridged Post a comment on PMW's Right of Reply: www.TheGuestBook.com/egbook/257949.gbook OPEN LETTER TO PACIFIC MEDIA WATCH: Dr Trevor Cullen, of Edith Cowan University, reveals some of Bill Whites vindictive activities during the past four years Perth, WA 30 January 2003 I met Bill White when I was teaching at the Divine Word University in Papua New Guinea. Bill White was also teaching there, until he was dismissed from that employment for acting in a threatening and provocative way towards other staff. Since his dismissal from the University, Bill White has begun a campaign to discredit many of his former colleagues, of which I am one. When I left DWU, I went to Queensland University in Brisbane where I studied and successfully completed my doctoral studies in journalism. While there, the staff and university executive were frequently sent individual email messages by Bill White. These emails, among other things, accused me of a variety of fraudulent activities, which were entirely unfounded. In addition, he published false web pages about me on the internet, which can be downloaded by anyone at anytime. Currently, I lecture at Edith Cowan University. Since my arrival at the university in January 2002, Mr White has continued to stalk and defame me by bombarding my fellow staff members with false material about my academic qualifications. View Google (a major search engine on the internet). This lists Web pages published by Mr White about myself and my current employer. Many staff and students continue to ask about these sites. Mr White also sends damaging and abusive emails to journalism schools in Australia and newsrooms throughout the Pacific region. Often, he will use my name as an email address so that when people receive the email they think I have sent it. If Bill White wants to investigate fraud he should start with himself. He avoids any disclosure about his past life or activities. For example, is he a retired attorney or is it the case he was forced to retire? He also passed himself off as Dr Bill White at DWU. Yet, he has no doctorate. Who is the fraud? Apart from continually undermining my academic qualifications and status, Mr White has also chosen to persist with defamatory attacks on my character. I totally rejected his accusation that I am a homosexual or a paedophile. However, someone reading his numerous websites and web pages could be seriously misled by his statements. Not only am I and my employer targeted, but anyone who tries to come to my aid against Mr White is likely to have a web page published about them on which Mr White taunts and abuses them. He has set up several web sites against those people who have supported me. They include Mr David Robie, at www.davidrobie.com, where Mr White has a web site dedicated to David Robie, former head of journalism at the University of the South Pacific; Professor John Henningham, former head of the Journalism at Queensland University www.johnhenningham.com Jeremy Malcolm, my legal representative www.jeremymalcolm.com, and Beate Josephi, head of journalism, at Edith Cowan University www.trevorcullen.info/beate/. I feel responsible that they have been unjustly embroiled in Mr White's abusive campaign. Not surprisingly, during the past four years he has purchased several domain sites under my name. For example, www.trevorcullen.com; www.trevorcullen.org, trevorcullen.net and www.trevorcullen.info. Bill White has downloaded my PhD thesis from www.hivpress.com and posted it under a new web addresses at www.hivpress.net.org and www.trevorcullen.info/thesis. Having spent three long hard years of research, interviewing and writing, Mr White has stolen my work and has seriously tampered with its content. The PhD Doctorate, entitled: Press coverage of HIV/AIDS was awarded by the prestigious school of journalism at Queensland University. This is important research especially in light of the evolving HIV/AIDS epidemic in the Asia/Pacific region. Bill White has inflicted great harm on my professional work, status and character via emails, websites, web pages and domain names. His vindictive hate campaign which began in April 1997 has also injured the reputation of other highly regarded individuals who have supported me against Bill Whites constant (and sometimes daily) defamatory and damaging attacks. As a result of Bill Whites prolonged and vitriolic campaign, I decided to take legal action against him in the Supreme Court of Western Australia. On 9 December 2002 the Supreme Court ruled in my favour and the process of assessing damages is currently underway.
