Loga has worked as a journalist with Fiji Broadcasting Corporation for the past five years and has a special interest in investigative reporting and in covering the topical issues of land, politics and the law. He previously spent six years working as a court clerk with the Suva High Court. "The creation of the new full-time Fiji correspondent position, and the appointment of a local person, with local knowledge and local experience, to that role is a significant step for Radio Australia's coverage of the Pacific," says Sue Ahearn, executive producer of Radio Australia News and Current Affairs. "This move reflects Radio Australia's strong commitment to providing a top quality Pacific news and information service for our region. Loga brings with him considerable on the ground knowledge of the issues, events and people that are making news in Fiji and across the Pacific region, and is an integral part of our Pacific news and current affairs team," says Ahearn. Loga has recently returned from a two-week training course on the latest digital technology used in modern news reporting at Radio Australia's Melbourne studios, where he met his Radio Australia colleagues and filed stories for the popular Pacific Beat and Radio Australia news programs. The appointment of a full-time correspondent for Radio Australia in Fiji has been made possible by a partnership agreement between Radio Australia and the Fiji Broadcasting Corporation. Mika Loga is based at the FBC offices in Suva and, in the true spirit of the partnership, will share resources, expertise and stories with his FBC counterparts. Radio Australia broadcasts 24 hours a day throughout the Pacific, Asia and beyond via shortwave, satellite and on the internet. Radio Australia can also be heard on more than 40 stations located across the Pacific, including FM104 in Suva, which broadcasts Radio Australia 24 hours a day.
