Title -- 3917 REGION: DWU cyberstalker Bill White launches fresh attacks Date -- 28 January 2003 Byline -- None Origin -- Pacific Media Watch Source -- Asia Pacific Network, 27/1/3 Copyright -- APN Status -- Unabridged Post a comment on PMW's Right of Reply: www.voy.com/166636/ Bill White's problems - Coppcar unmasked DWU CYBERSTALKER BILL WHITE LAUNCHES FRESH ATTACKS AUCKLAND (APN/Pacific Media Watch): American cyberstalker Bill White, who has waged a vendetta against Divine Word University in Papua New Guinea for the past four years, has launched a fresh flurry of attacks against regional journalism academics. He has established bogus defamatory websites in the name of PNG's acting Governor General Sir Peter Barter, current and former DWU staff, and media academics in Australia and New Zealand. Among his targets are former head of journalism at DWU Dr Trevor Cullen; Professor John Henningham, director of a leading Brisbane journalism school; and former University of the South Pacific journalism coordinator David Robie. In bizarre conspiracy allegations, he accuses DWU, staff, Barter, Cullen, Henningham, Robie and others in the Pacific of "fraud" over the Madang university. His vendetta has included abusive email onslaughts on Pacific news media with his allegations. White often publishes under the name Coppcar. Dr Cullen successfully brought a defamation action against White in the West Australian Supreme Court on 9 December 2002. The court is assessing damages. Professor Henningham, one of Australia's most respected media research scholars and analysts, and former head of the Queensland University's Department of Journalism, described White's campaign and bogus websites network as "highly offensive". "The content is a collection of defamatory, untrue and highly offensive material, all of which are concerned with his ongoing vendetta against academics in the southern Pacific," he said. * After Café Pacific created a special "Clown" forum for discussion about Bill White's internet abuse, White established another website called www.Cafe-Pacific.com on 1 February 2002 to attack David Robie and his independent current affairs and analysis site. >> 'FLAMED' or defamed by Bill White or Coppcar?
